OVERALL ACCOUNTABILITY
 

As the Instructional Designer within our dynamic SOCAN HR Team you will be responsible for assessing, designing, developing, and evaluating training solutions to support People and systems initiatives across all business units. This position reports to the Director, Human Resources.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Instructional Design – 40%

  • Create tangible training, resources and solutions for employees to overcome business, people and skill challenges, including but not limited to:
    • Management 101
    • Top Talent / High Potential
    • Health and Safety Trainings
    • Wellness Diversity & Culture Programs
    • Lunch n' Learns,
    • Know the Industry/Business,
    • HCM Technical Trainings
    • Corporate Orientation

 

Training Delivery – 40%

  • Lead the delivery of training and development through a variety of methodologies including, workshop facilitation, WebX etc., across the SOCAN organization and affiliated group of companies.

 

Programs / Project Management – 10%

  • Manage and coordinate all training related programs (i.e. educational assistance)
  • Project Manage, track/report on all HR training and development Initiatives
  • Provide status updates
  • Assist with Communications
  • Represent HR at Project Status meetings
  • Manage training budgets and costs

 

Collaboration Between Team Members – 10%

  • Proactive sharing of information and trends with the HR team
  • Proactively offering help and support and being accountable
  • Focus at looking at the big picture and solution-oriented

 

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's Degree in Education, Instructional Design, or related subject
  • Minimum 5+ years of instructional design experience
  • Proven facilitator
  • Knowledge of adult learning theory and instructional design principles
  • Experience in developing training materials with a variety of delivery methods
  • Proven knowledge of eLearning authoring tools, virtual training, and web conference tools
  • Experienced in Project Management
  • Microsoft Office – (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
  • Experienced in VISIO, Adobe, Storyline II, Camtasia, and other video/object creation, editing, and producing software, SharePoint, an asset
  • Bilingualism in French/English, an asset

WORKWEEK:

  • 35 hours per work week / 5 days per work
  • Modification of hours may be required from time to time to meet business needs
  • Some North American travel may be required
