Based out of our Chilliwack Plant we are hiring part-time Summer Students to be General Labourers.
 

The General Labourer is responsible for cleaning and maintaining the plant site to meet established Company standards of cleanliness and safety. The Yard Labourer properly disposes various materials during production process and assists in the loading or unloading containing raw materials and/or finished product. Adherence to company safety procedures and processes are a requirement of this position.

 

Hourly wage: $18.25

 

ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Dump, scrape and rinse roll-off bins safely and efficiently as per RNL standard operating procedures
  • Use forklifts and rachet straps to dump and break down cardboard bins
  • Measure bulk bins
  • Always maintain a high standard of site cleanliness including rinsing receiving pits and cleaning other plant equipment
  • Provide assistance to other departments through the limited use of mechanical equipment such as skid steer, forklifts and turn heads
  • Independently identify and dispose of garbage waste, cardboard or pallets
  • Supply bins and other required material to de-packaging team to avoid work interruption
  • Move material from de-packaging area to production
  • Clean the employee lunchroom, changeroom and other facility areas
  • Maintain supply of paper towels, soaps and other facility supplies
  • Ensure storage areas are organized and clean as per company standards
  • Receive and ship bulk orders and accurately measure inventory of raw material and finished products
  • Assist Receivers with unloading and loading trucks when required
  • Removal of snow and apply de-icing salt in the yard and other plant surfaces
  • Assist with managing clean bins inventory including inspection and removal of damaged bins
  • Operate all equipment safely and efficiently including skid-steers, forklifts and plant vehicles
  • May be required to rotate as a Received based on prior approval from Manager
  • Actively participate in providing feedback, input or suggestions to the Manager

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE

  • Proficiency in English, both written and verbal, with excellent communication skills
  • Ability to read, understand and follow Safe Work Procedures as instructed to ensure all site safety requirements are met
  • Possession of a Class 5 driver’s license is an asset
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to frequently move, carry, lift, push and pull equipment up to 50 lbs without assistance and occasionally greater with assistance
  • Perform repetitive motions including bending, kneeling, crouching, climbing and reaching overhead above the shoulders daily
  • Adaptable to adverse conditions including confined spaces, heights, cold weather, odours and animal by-products
