Controller

Full Time, Permanent

 

Reports To:  Vice President of Finance, IT and Transformation

 

 

Job Responsibilities

  • Responsible for all major controllership functions including Financial Accounting, Tax, Treasury, Accounts Payable, and Accounts Receivable
  • Manage and review all period end financial close activities
  • Preparation of the period end financial package including financial statements, forecast, and variance analysis
  • Preparation of financial presentations to the executive team and Board of Directors
  • Manage the annual planning process by partnering with commercial leadership across all business units
  • Participate in the development of and support the Company’s strategic plans
  • Lead the transformation of the controllership function, including the implementation of new systems and processes to improve efficiency and quality of work product
  • Partner with other departments to assist and improve operations
  • Manage compliance reporting & tax returns
  • Responsible for partnering with Sheridan’s external auditors for the year end audit
  • Establish, manage, and monitor internal control processes
  • Lead and develop a diverse and dynamic team of controllership professionals


Requirements

  • University degree in Business/Accounting and/or CPA
  • Experience leading and developing diverse teams
  • Strong work ethic, attention to detail, well organized, exceptional customer service and team building skills 
  • High level of critical and analytical thinking to identify underlying principles, reasons, or facts
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint
  • Prior experience in implementing business performance management systems (such as Hyperion Financial Management) is considered an asset
