RVA’s London office is looking for a Design Technologist to join their team.

 

Duties: 

 

  • Work both independently and within a design team to prepare design packages for transportation and municipal infrastructure projects including water distribution, sanitary and storm sewers, stormwater management, road design, and utility coordination.
  • Prepare engineering design calculations, technical reports, and cost estimates.
  • Prepare detailed CADD plan/profile design drawings for transportation and linear infrastructure projects.
  • Attend client meetings and prepare meeting minutes as required.
  • Assist in the preparation of tender specifications for projects.
  • Work in the field to gather data for projects using data collectors and survey with portable GIS equipment.
  • Provide support during construction such as submittal coordination, meeting agenda and notes preparation, payment certificates, and site review, as required.
  • Other duties as required where appropriate for the position.

 

Qualifications:

 

  • Recent college graduate from a 3 year Civil/Municipal Engineering program or a College Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology.
  • 2-5 years of work experience within the field is preferred, but superior candidates with less experience will be considered.
  • Registered as a CET or able to obtain CET designation with OACETT within a two-year period. .
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
  • Some experience with undertaking engineering surveys, level surveys and field measurements.
  • Able to be trained in Confined Space Entry procedures and undertake confined-entry inspections into sewers and tunnels as required.
  • Highly organized with the ability to coordinate work across multiple teams and job sites.
  • Demonstrates superior English communication skills both oral and written.
  • A valid G driver’s license and access and use of a reliable vehicle is required.

 

Experience 

 

  • Knowledge of preliminary and detailed design of transportation and municipal infrastructure projects related to water distribution, sanitary and storm sewers, stormwater management, road design, and utility coordination.
  • Knowledge of Sanitary and Storm sewer Design sheets.
  • Knowledge of project workflows including development of design drawings, specifications, design reports, tender documents, and cost estimates.
  • Experience with surveying equipment including GPS, Total Station, and rod and level.
  • Proficient in the use of the current versions of Civil 3D, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Project. Knowledge of the Ontario Provincial Standard Specifications and Standard Drawings as well as City of London standards.
