Immigrant Services Calgary is looking for two part-time (25 hours per week) Mental Health Therapists to be responsible for providing group facilitation and supportive counselling for immigrant and refugee individuals with a focus on domestic violence treatment. These positions may also work with, but is not limited to, high-risk populations who may have experience with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, family dysfunction, and other issues that affect mental health.


• Design, implementation, facilitation, and assessment of the Multicultural Domestic Violence Program group component
• Assist in the recruitment and intake process as required
• Provide counselling services in a variety of formats: i.e. group, individual
• Provide  counselling and intervention for high-risk immigrant and refugee families
• Assess client’s needs and develop an intervention plan
• Referrals to community resources for basic needs, and specialized intervention
• Manage client files and provide follow-up with clients
• Recording and evaluation responsibilities associated with the program
• Build connections with ethnic community associations
• Represent the project to community partners and services
• Ensure all appropriate client documentation to meet funder accountability framework is completed

Other tasks:

• Adhere to ISC Policy & Procedure and ISC and Mosaic Centre Standards of Practice
• Attend monthly meetings of Mosaic Centre staff and all staff meetings
• Document and report any disclosures of abuse to the Family Support Programs Senior Coordinator and the Mosaic Family Resource Centre Director
• Other duties as assigned by the Family Support Programs Coordinator


• Master’s Degree in Psychology or Master’s Degree in Social Work
• Experience working with high-risk families
• Experience in the area of domestic violence
• Cross cultural sensitivity and awareness
• Case Management  experience
• Experience working in a counselling setting
• Excellent knowledge of community resources
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Experience in working in a multi-cultural setting is an asset
• Fluency in a second language is an asset  (Punjabi or Spanish preferred)
• Available to work some evenings and Saturdays
• Valid driver’s licence and vehicle is required
