Immigrant Services Calgary is seeking an experienced and motivated individual to join our team as a Settlement Platform/Web Developer. In this role, you will develop complex and responsive website and online applications.

This is a full-time position with the contract ending March 31, 2020.  


Duties:

• Develop and enhance the Settlement Platform’s online presence and promote settlement services via websites, social media and other online tools
• Design, develop, test and document the assigned development tasks which include both new features and support activities
• Maintain the interactive components of the platform on a timely manner
• Generate data reports for purposes of performance evaluation, project management and internal/external reporting
• Provide settlement-related services to newcomers, including needs assessments, orientation, information, referrals and supportive counselling
• Assist the Virtual Services Coordinator in managing, operating and maintaining the Settlement Platform and virtual services delivery
• Providing relevant training and support to Settlement Counsellors
• Assist in developing and editing various digital media (ex. graphics and video) for special projects and promotional strategies
• Any other duties as assigned by the supervisor.


Qualifications:

• Degree/Diploma in Computer Science or related discipline (or equivalent)
• Proficient in oral and written English and a second language
• 2+ years’ experience on web and mobile-based software development projects
• Extensive programming experience in a language that demands strong OO skills (PHP, C#, Java, etc.). Note that we don't use all these technologies; these are examples of the types of skills we look for
• Experience working with learning management systems such Moodle, Canvas and others is strongly preferred
• Proficiency in Oracle database/MySQL
• Knowledge of website content management systems (CMS), website maintenance
• Graphic design and video editing experience, including proficiency with the Adobe Creative Suite (Premiere, Illustrator, Photoshop)
• Mobile Application Development is an asset
• Familiar with social media and online networking sites
• Excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills
• Available to work occasional evenings and weekends during peak periods
