About the Project and Team

Corus has assembled an agile team that is developing the new suite of products that will seamlessly support the end to end processes of Revenue, Traffic, Finance, Marketing and Programming. The focus is to align the new products with the business needs of today as well as incorporating the flexibility to accommodate the industry needs of tomorrow. The role is an opportunity to contribute to the improvement of processes and technology at Corus, while working with a dedicated team in an agile environment.

About the Role

The Finance Business Liaison is the Finance representative on the agile team. This role provides the finance perspective in ensuring risks are identified and address through implementing the proper controls. This role works collaboratively with both the agile team and the Finance team to ensure that when implemented the new systems have both the functionality and safeguards to protect the integrity of Corus’ sales data. 

You will:

  • Participate in development discussions to better understand business processes
  • Understand our current revenue and month end processes to improve upon them
  • Represent Finance by providing financial perspective and input as a part of developmental decision making
  • Provide regular updates to Finance in regards to progress, issues and upcoming milestones
  • Communicate with agile teams and product owners the status of workflows
  • Identify potential system risks during development and propose controls to mitigate them
  • Test functionality/capabilities and provide feedback
  • Lead analysis in regards to special Finance projects
  • Foster a staff culture that supports Corus’ culture of winning together and making it happen

About You

What we need from the candidate:

  • University Degree and CPA (or working towards) is preferred
  • Nice to have: Public accounting experience
  • Nice to have: High-level knowledge and understanding of the overall broadcasting business
  • Forward-thinker and problem-solver with the ability to envision potential risks and impacts to Finance downstream from decisions/actions of other business units in a system
  • “Out of the box” innovative thinker: able to describe the way things could be vs. how they are
  • Experience working with both technical and business teams
  • Highly collaborative, people love working with you
  • Ability to lead and remain focused in complex environments with multiple stakeholders
