About the Role:



Corus has an exciting full time opportunity for an Accountant - Advertising in our Toronto head office. Reporting directly to the Supervisor, Advertising AR and Revenue, this role is part of a team that supports the sales revenue team, regional offices and other departments within Corus.



As the successful candidate, you have a proven track record for driving continuous improvement in a strong internal controls environment. You have excellent communication and analytical abilities.





Responsibilities:

  • Process manual invoices and adjustments for multiple revenues types across multiple business lines

  • Work with multiple currencies and sales tax regulations

  • Prepare month end journal entries including accruals

  • Perform monthly account reconciliations, prepare receivables and revenue reports. Prepare schedules to support quarterly reporting

  • Communicate effectively with Sales teams, Regional Business Managers, Creative Services, Programming, Credit & Collection, and Real Estatedepartments

  • Review and interpret terms and conditions of legal agreements to ensure revenue and receivables are properly recorded

  • Support requests from both internal and external auditors

  • Assist with ad hoc reporting and special projects as required

  • Participate in testing of manual invoices to ensure financial data integrity

  • Foster a staff culture that supports Corus’ culture of winning together



About You



What We Need From You:

  • Post-secondary degree in accounting and/or finance

  • Working towards a professional accounting designation is an asset, not required

  • 3-4 years of related work experience with a publically traded organization

  • Experience working with Great Plains (subledger and GL)

  • Experience with verifying and processing accounts receivable and revenue

  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Excel is required (Pivot tables, VLOOKUP)

  • Must have demonstrated analytical skills, accuracy with figures, and detail oriented

  • Team player with strong interpersonal communication skills, having the ability to work effectively and efficiently with all levels of management in a professional manner

  • Being results oriented with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and responsibilities in order to meet competing deadlines
