About the Role

Global Montreal is currently seeking a full-time reporter to join its dynamic team. This position will report to the Managing Editor. This position will be assigned to a 2:30-10:30 p.m. shift but may be required to work other shifts including early mornings and weekends as well as statutory holidays.

Candidates must have a minimum of 3 years of experience as a broadcast news reporter and a university degree in journalism or equivalent. The candidate must have a proven track record of live reporting, and be an experienced and creative story teller.

Applicants must be able to express themselves in quality language as required in English and French. Strong journalistic, as well as strong “live” skills, punctuality, creativity, initiative, and a positive attitude are also required. The ability to work under stress to meet tight deadlines is essential.

  • Initiate and develop story and feature ideas through contact development, research and interviews;

  • Produce reports and features for all Global News & Information Programming;

  • Provide live on-camera coverage of special events;

  • Write stories for

  • Appear on anchor desk to introduce features or host segments;

  • May be required to assume responsibilities for assigned “beat”;

  • Assist editors in production of story.

About You

What We Need From You:

  • An expertise in and passion for journalism.

  • College or university degree (or equivalent experience),preferably in Journalism, New Media, or Communications.

  • Excellent writing, copy editing and substantive editing skills.

  • Strong working knowledge of multimedia tools, including WordPress, Photoshop, and a familiarity with HTML, Flash and JavaScript.

  • Diverse content experience across multiple verticals and formats,including digital video, text articles, blogs, social media tools, digital photos.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and experience working with several internal and external stakeholders on various projects.

  • Experience working in broadcast news, and in a digital newsroom environment, is an assey

  • Bilingual, English and French

  • Experience writing for the web and communicating through social media
