Global News, a division of Corus Entertainment, has an exciting management opportunity available on its award-winning news team in Toronto, joining our team of content managers to oversee editorial direction and vetting standards for digital and broadcast content for Global News and globalnews.ca. The successful candidate will be required to work primarily weekdays, with weekend and evening work as required by our dynamic news environment. About the Role
Working closely with national and local News leadership teams in online and broadcast, this position oversees the Copy Desk for globalnews.ca, works closely with the National Managing Editor, Social Media, and reports into the National Director of Content & Editorial Standards based in Toronto.

Uphold the highest journalistic standards in our content being produced across all platforms
· Work directly with the Director of Content & Editorial Standards to consolidate and update editorial and style standards for online and broadcast platforms
Train and enforce editorial and style standards across Global News network
Perform manager level vetting across all platforms to ensure top journalistic standards are being delivered
Work with managing editors, news directors and others to communicate, teach, track and model Global News’ best practices in digital and broadcast journalism for all news employees
Maintain regular contact with fellow Global News digital and broadcast leaders and communicate key changes and improvements to staff and managers
Hire, onboard, and train copy editors to maintain a standard of excellence while working in a supportive team environment
Ensure all online stories are vetted for content, grammar and style. Work with radio and television leaders to improve overall writing skills of all journalists filing for multiple platforms.
Support an analytics-driven approach to managing online and broadcast content
Assist with training and enforcement of journalistic standards on social networks
Help support viewer relations on all platforms. Help resolve, respond to, and flag user complaints and feedback.
Manage operational requirements pertaining to performance, labour relations, scheduling and timesheets, including strict adherence to the Global News Journalistic Principles and Practices

What We Need From You:
The successful candidate will possess the following qualifications:
Degree or diploma in journalism, communications or a related field from a recognized institution
A minimum of 8 years’ experience in a major market newsroom environment
Proven track record in vetting online and broadcast editorial content
Strong understanding of journalistic standards and legal obligations pertaining to journalism on multiple platforms i.e. online, television, broadcast, podcast, etc.
Comprehensive understanding and extensive experience with WordPress and social media including but not limited to Facebook, Twitter, Snapchat and Instagram
Demonstrated experience managing, supervising or leading a team is required
Must have excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work independently, effectively, and cooperatively to tight deadlines in a complex team environment
Possess excellent communication and organizational skills and the ability to make independent decisions in pressure situations

A valid driver’s license
