We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Director, Actuarial Solutions to lead CAAT Pension Plan’s actuarial services team supporting the new member and employer experiences for the Plan’s growth initiatives.  Reporting to the Vice President, Pension Solutions, this highly collaborative, people focused leader will be responsible for providing direction and oversight to the actuarial team.

The successful candidate will have technical experience in the following key areas:
  • Progressive experience in the pension industry with focus on complex actuarial topics, regulatory and pension plan policy and actuarial valuation along with a minimum of fifteen (15) years at a senior leadership level.
  • Exceptional leadership abilities, demonstrated through the building of highly engaged, professional and collaborative teams and the establishment of strong working relationships at all levels of the organization and related stakeholder groups. 
  • Demonstrated record of success in mentoring and guiding teams through complex actuarial and regulatory challenges in support of merger and conversion initiatives.  Providing leadership on pension legislation and Income Tax Act provisions, acting as an escalation point on all growth-related actuarial matters.
  • Leading an actuarial team through the end to end process of bringing new employers who currently sponsor a defined benefit plan or capital accumulation plan (i.e. a defined contribution pension plan, Group RRSP, TFSA, etc.) into the CAAT Pension Plan.
A University Degree, Fellow of the Society of Actuaries (FSA) designation along with twenty (20) or more years of experience in the pension industry and at least fifteen (15) years of direct people leadership with the demonstrated ability to grow highly engaged teams is required.  Sound judgement and the ability to build strong relationships within teams and Plan stakeholders along with relevant experience with multi-jurisdiction pension plans and interacting with regulators is expected. Previous experience within jointly-sponsored or other multi-employer pension plans is strongly preferred.
